  • turning AE into an image sequence auto-loader.

    Ladies and Gentlemen-

I have a situation where i need image sequences to be rendered out asap, as source folders get filled up with images.

With AE, i have to select the sequence in each folder, put the sequence into a comp, and then i have a render preset made to dump out a quicktime in the format i’d like. To do the next sequence, I have to select the next folder, etc etc etc.

Ideally, i’d like an even more automated way of doing this. Before I hop on the scripting train, does anybody know of an easier way in AE, or of a different program, that would achieve this goal?

    Thanks,

    Rich

Drag the folders from windows explorer (or Mac Finder) into the project pannel. You must drage the folders containing the image sequence. It can;t be a folder containing a folders with image sequences.

this will import all images in each folder as an image sequences.*

Next, drop all of the imported sequences into the render queue – this will automatically create a comp for each sequence that is already set up in the render queue.

    * (this assumes your AE import preferences are set to the defualt of importing folders as sequences. If you;ve tamplered with this, or it;s not working, go into the import preferences and change this. I am not infront of AE, and I can;t remember the preference name.)

I think this will make a good workflow podcast…
