  FCP 5 HDV footage to Avid PC, what best possible export settings?

  HI there:

  Don’t ask me why but I need to get a finished sequence on FCP 5 shot on HDV into a PC for color grading inside Avid. I thought of exporting quicktime at 720×576 and the best possible quality. Tried a few settings and it seems the best so far in Quicktime with PNG codec at best. There is massive compression using this codec but it imports quite well into a PC using Avid. The PC doesn’t support the uncompress 10 bit or 8 bit 4:2:2 settings. The component video settings don’t work very well. Any other better way to do this?

  What other people would do?

  Since the Avid 10 bit codec don’t exist on the Mac world yet – I would use Avid Meridien uncompress. Download the codec from Avid’s site.

  I’d just grade in FCP. The color corrector is just fine IMO.
