    Do you have a lot of clips in different resolutions? If you only have a few 8 bit clips, then what I would do is export the 8 bit clips at 10bit either from FCP or from QT pro, and then bring those clips back into the project and work on a 10bit timeline…this way you will not have to keep rendering, because your new clips are now 10bit rather than 8bit.
