  • Add Fade then the crop setting changes over the course of the fade

Ok. So here is the situation. i have a standard DV Pal clip on a timeline set to DV Pal etc all normal. I have added a crop of 1 to both top and bottom to get rid of some bad line that is at the bottom of the DV footage. I have then added a fade and what happens is when the fade of 1 sec goes from black to full picture the crop of 1 adjusts over that time period. ie. Start of the frame no crop, by the time the picture is fully exposed the crop is there! you can see it move?

I have also noticed this with things like a cross disolve where the framing of the picture slightly re adjusts through the cross fade. Does anyone know what this is, its not dramatic but if you want to be anal about things its notiicable 🙂

try rendering out the cropped clip….. try using a keyframe opacity change instead of a fade /dip to color/cross dissolve. and for the obvious make sure you don’t have a key frame on the crop.

Crop, nest the cropped clip, then fade the nest. This is explained in my book….it’s called “tricking the render pipeline”.
