Tiger, FCP HD, Diigital Cinema Desktop Preview Not Working!
Posted by Tangier Clarke on May 4, 2005 at 10:03 pmJust wondering if anyone has had this problem, but now that I have Tiger, my digital cinema desktop preview will not play. I single frame will show up (External Video: All Frames turned on)
but pressing the space bar does nothing.

May 4, 2005 at 10:18 pmMy guess the upgrade or update of your OS seems to change your system settings. Try trashing your prefences files and Easy-Set up files, then re-launch FCP. If that doesn’t work you may have to delete FCP and re-install. Not a fun sollution but it works.

May 5, 2005 at 12:09 amBy chance, make sure your windows in FCP do not overlap. Press Ctl U. Also make sure your Viewer and Canvas Window are set to Fit to Window.

May 5, 2005 at 8:26 amI had already posted this bug. If you have only one monitor then your stuffed. If you have two you can use the monitor that does not have the menu bar. Or you can control full screen playback if the canvas window is on the other screen. Hopefully this bug will be fixed soon.

May 5, 2005 at 6:20 pmSo did you do a complete tiger install or an archive and install? When I look in my Library/Quicktime folder I see these pieces: DesktopVideoOut
FCP Uncompressed 422If they are not there, Digital cinema desktop won’t work.
So something might have gotten botched in the archive install. And when you say complete uninstall, do you mean Tiger or FCP?

May 5, 2005 at 6:53 pmI did an uninstall of FCP HD. My Tiger installation is a clean install – I archived my previous system folder as not to lose it.
Frankly I don’t use Digital Cinema Display on my desktop that much, only to the Sony WEGA. However I’d like to know that it does work when I want it to.

Sounds like some of your crucial QT components got moved when you upgraded to Tiger. You should uninstall your current version of FCP, then reinstall it to get everything back in the right place. These articles should help you:

May 6, 2005 at 2:58 pmYep I have that in my library. For what it’s worth I did an UPGRADE so in theory nothing should have been moved.
This has happened now on 3 computers that have been upgraded with Tiger. I will try and uninstall and then re-install and see what happens.
