  • Importing a FinalCut-7 Project in to the latest Adobe Premier

    Hi
I have to go back and re-edit a feature length documentary film to new music.

The film was started several years ago and exists as a FinalCut-7 project.
The producers are buying a new MacPro and outfitting it with the Adobe Suite (Premier).

Does anyone have advice on importing a FCP-7 project in to the latest version of Premier?

You have to export an XML from FCP7 and import it into Premiere. It *may* work, but probably not flawlessly. Option 2 is to roundtrip the XML through Resolve first. But in either case, you must have an XML from the FCP7 project.

If you have any alternate takes or other material on any tracks that you’ve disabled, you should do a save as to create a new timeline, and then delete all that material, otherwise I can assure you that your XML will be problematic.
