I am an FCP switcher and I have not been able to figure out to select a clip and use that selection to render out a section of a timeline as you can do in FCP. This is killing me. I do not want to stretch out a work area slider like AE or PP. I just want to select a clip and render everything above and below it in the timeline.

Can you do this in Premiere Pro?

Assuming your Mac version looks like my PC version, you would need to position the Work Area bar above and then from Sequence menu, choose either Render Entire Work Area or Render Effects in Work Area.

That is what I am afraid of. It really slows down the work flow as opposed to clicking on a clip and have the selected clip create your in and out for your work area as in FCP.

    Hi Michael,

I should ask what is the purpose of the render in question? Normally, you do not need to render anything unless that section of timeline gets the red bar above it, and if it does that, just hit the ENTER key to render. Easy. If you want to physically export a section of timeline to a new clip for some purpose, then yes you need to position the work area bar first.

    Thanks
