Numbered Still import problem
Hi all,
I’m new to premier pro and trying to make a time-lapse film. I have over 200 stills I am trying to import as a single film. Everything I read tells me to make sure the stills are named sequentially, which I have done. Then, to select the first image in the sequence on the import menu and click ‘numbered stills’ and premier will import all the numbered stills as a single file. However, when I follow the instructions, no matter how I sequence the images, premier will only import the first image as a film. I have named my images ‘Stars100’ with the next being ‘Stars101’ and so on to ‘Stars218’. I have tried them as JPEGs and TIFFs with no dice. What the heck am I doing wrong?

Have you tried dropping the imported ‘Stars100’ image onto a sequence and checking it? Premiere doesn’t import each image separately, it creates a clip named for the first image in the sequence, with each frame of that clip being a sequential image. I’ll bet they’re all there.

Yes I dropped it into a sequence and looked every which way. Its just a 4 second clip of the first image. Am I naming it wrong or something?

I just did a 10 image sequence using your exact naming convention, and it works. Have you tried using a lower number of images as a test?

I just did as you suggested and tried the first 10. Still only importing the first image. Could it be the presets I’m using when I start a new project? I’m just using the 4k preset. Mucho frustrating…

The preset you choose on a new project simply determines the initial sequence created, and is independent of any importing.
I’m really at a loss. I’m using CS5, but I’ve just had a friend try it with CS3, and it works in either.

I think I figured it out. You were right all along, they were all there but my computer was only playing the first image. On a whim I rendered it to see what would happen and all images started playing. Thanks for your help! Guess ill just remember to render before trying anything else.
