  • Edit clip with 20,8 fps in 25 fps sequence and keep audio sync?

Hello. I have a problem I can’t get around it seems.

I’m editing a video of two guys talking. Unfortunately the whole clip is recorded in 20,8 fps (!) for some reason. Now, when I drag the clip into my 25 fps sequence the audio do not sync at all.
If I’m trying Interpret footage… to 25 fps the clip shortens with 20 seconds so that is no option.
I have even tried to interpret footage to 25 and then use Speed/Dration to the same length at the original clip but that does not help with the synk either.

Does any one know what I could do? Any suggestion is much appriciated!

    Thanks
    ~ Johan

Was the video shot on a phone?

let’s assume that the file is indeed 20.8fps. If you want it to play back in a 25fps comp without speed/duration change, you’ll need to decide how to interpolate the frames. frame blending on or optical flow(which is now natively supported in premiere)

    “Exporting time interpolated media
The Time Interpolation setting in the Export Settings dialog box (File > Export > Media) allows you to change the frame rate of the exported file by leveraging Optical Flow to interpolate the missing frames.”

you have to render out to see the optical flow. it won’t playback in the timeline.

The clip may use Variable Frame Rate, which Premiere doesn’t like. Convert the file using HandBrake and then try in Premiere
