So, I recently shot lots of footage in AVC Intra Using a Panasonic 370 P2

All of the data is backed up on external HDs and I attempting to edit the MXF file directly in Premiere Pro CS6 (running on Mac Book Pro OS X 10.7.5 OS, 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 Processor, with 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Memory and Graphics are NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 512 MB)

    * The software seems very clumsy with the files… Takes a long time to import–sometimes does not import at all. Hangs — no way I can work like this…

I tried getting a converter off the web (supposedly the best out there for converting MXF to MPEG-2, but the footage quality has been compromised…)

***Any thoughts suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Michael

Are you importing the files through the media browser?

    Nope — I am just going to: File – > Import…

But now I will try through the media browser… Thanks.

If you have formats with weird directory structures (AVCHD, P2 wtc) then you should use the media browser when importing.

Also, since P2 has really started to disappear, folks sometime don’t know, or have forgotten it is important to retain the P2 folder/file structure when transferred.
