How to link 4k files to proxies in premiere cs6?
After my first 4k shoot with GH4, I began with my typical 1920×1080 premiere pro workflow but found that my computer was lagging and kept stalling. I figured this was due to the large resolution of the 4k MP4 files, so I created 1280×720 mov proxies and then proceeded to cut my edit on a 1080 timeline using those proxies.
I now want to replace the proxies with the 4k files so I can grade them, but when I do the typical offline then relink route, I’m told that the files don’t match and it seems to automatically just link the proxies instead again.
As an alternative, I try to replace each proxy clip individually with the corresponding 4k clip, but when I do, it doesn’t recognize the position of the cut–rather it just replaces the footage at the beginning of the clip. This is obviously useless.
My proxies are mov files while my 4k files are MP4.
What do I do? I’ve been at this for hours and Im really stuck. Help! 🙁

Thx Ann. I will test that workflow with my next project. But at this point I need to solve the problem I’m having. Any solutions?

The only option I can think of is import the 4K clips and manually Replace With Clip for each clip.

I tried that but it doesn’t recognize the cut point of the proxy clip, so when I replace it, it just starts the clip from the beginning.
