  How to properly interlace 29.97 progressive film

  Hi All,

  I have a film master that is edited and exported in 29.97p.

  I need to convert the master to 29.97 interlaced for iTunes delivery.

  I have tried all the things suggested here on CC with no luck.
  – Compressor exporting as interlaced with both ‘reverse telecine’ and ‘best’ retime settings.
  – PrPro interpreting the footage as interlaced

  Is there a proper way to interlace a progressive file?

  If not, I am open to converting the 29.97p to 23.98p.

  Hi Jon,

  iTunes will accept 29.97 progressive content.

  Unfortunately, they do not here in Australia.

  The spec sheet says:

  “29.97 interlaced frames per second video source can be delivered either interlaced or de-interlaced properly tagged as progressive”

  But if you want to “interlace” it then just render it out as interlaced, upper fields first.

  The iTunes spec is the same globally.
