i’ve never found a workaround for this; and am wondering if someone has one, or if AE is looking to improve this in the future–>

when i’m working in a 3D space, camera moving all over the shop, my viewport is limited to the size of my comp, and any layers outside of what i am viewing are wireframe.

i’d like to operate as smoke/flint do, in that regardless of your comp size/position of camera –> you are able to see all your layers in your 3D space, outside of your viewport.

i realise i can make my comp temporarily bigger, or set up different views, but it’s messy.

anyone have any thoughts before i send off a suggestion to the friendly adobe crew?

Nope, there’s no way around this. A feature request to Adobe would be the way to go. personally I don’t find it too important but then again as a long time 3D artist I would do the “serious” stuff in a 3D program… ;o)

    Here’s a wrok-around (or limp-around).

Add another camera, Camera 2, drag it below your Active Camera (assuming you have a camera 1 already).

Windows > Workplace > Two Camera View

Set the second view to Camera 2. Select Camera 2, then with the “Track Z Camera Tool” back off until you can see all your layers.

On AE 6.5 when I ram preview, I don’t see the movement of the layers in View 2 (the one with Camera 2 backed off), but when I scrub the time line I get all movemnet in both views (both cameras, one in each view).
