  Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 Constantly Crashing on Export

  I have a project with clips totaling about 1 minute at 720,576 25fps.

  Every time I try to export I get this message:

  “Error compiling Movie”

  When starting the program, I alternately get the following:

  “Adobe Premiere Pro is running very low on system memory. Please save your project and proceed with caution”

  Sometimes this is followed by:

  “Premiere Pro has encountered an error: [….SrcPPixHandleUtilities.cpp-114]”

  Sometimes the app just freezes, or closes.

  I have the following system:
  CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9300 @ 2.50GHz 2.50 GHz
  RAM: 8 GB
  OS: Windows Ultimate 7 64 bit
  Free Disk Space: 267 GB

  I have been keeping an eye on the system memory – usage stays right below 4 GB.

  I’ve tried the following:

  -Cleared my %temp% file
  -Set PP Preferences to “Optimizing Rendering for Memory”
  -Copied my files into a new sequence
  -Created a new project and imported the old project
  -Reduced the number of clips

  Nothing is working.

  Sounds like your system is still wanting memory. I would try to disable any background services that you can via task manager, certainly disable virus protection and be offline (in order to get to the root of your problem). Trash your Premiere Pro preferences and see what that gets you.

  So 8GB is not enough to render a 70 second 720×576 video in Premier Pro? Ouch.

  Resources show at least 4GB free. I’ve already used msconfig to remove all superfluous and unnecessary services.

  I’ll certainly try offline though.

  8GB is more than enough for what you describe. I was looking at the overall symptoms against what information you had provided. I also said, to trash your preferences for Premiere Pro and see if that helps.

  Hi Shaun.
  I have exactly the same problem. Same errors. I have only 4GB of memory however. I was thinking I should up the RAM. But looks like the problem may still remain. Did you ever find a solution? Would appreciate it so very very much. Cheers James

  Sorry, I never really found out what the problem was – but it certainly wasn’t due to RAM.

  I started the entire project over with new source and clips. After that, I did not have any more problems.

  My suspicion is some kind of incompatibility between one of the video clips and Adobe. They all played successfully, though, so if there was an issue, I never discovered which one.

  I have video from multiple sources and was wondering if one of them might be the problem. sigh.

  Did your problem go away? I’m suffering from that now. When I try to export to Matrox Media Composer or Adobe Media composer… CRASH. I tried un-installing and re-installing Production Premium and I still get the same result. I also tried importing 10 sec of color bars from P2 card and creating a whole new “project” and still get the same result.
