Hi, last evening my premiere pro cc project was complete and I was one click away from encoding it out to an mpeg2… then CC crashed. I try to reopen it and it won’t open. So I go to the auto-saves. I think there’s about 8 or 9 of them. They won’t open either. They get to the “locating media” screen and then nothing. I literally left it there all night just in case it would open.

Does anyone have an idea of how I can get this project open again before I have to start from scratch?

    Thank you,
    Virgil

Did you Save A Copy to another drive after each edit session?
Auto Save overwrites itself after so many time (preferences).

Unfortunately I didn’t. I saved, saved, saved my project over and over and had the auto saves, but none will open now.

I am having the EXACT same problem right now. Literally exactly the same. I could have written your issue myself. Did you figure it out? I’m feeling pretty stuck!

    Hey Mario,
Unfortunely I’ve found no solution. I just had to redo the project, it was literally due the next day. a few updates back, I had a similar issue… and I began saving a backup copy… then with a new update… I was able to open the projects that were corrupt, so I falsely assumed adobe had fixed the problem… though it won’t help me with this project, I’m hoping adobe’s next update might allow me to open this busted project… and I am back to saving a second backup copy every five minutes or so. It’s a pain in the butt, but it beats taking a completed project I spent five days working on and having to redo it in one night.

    Good luck,
    Virgil

Well, from one editor to the next, my heart goes out to ya!

When you say “saving a second back up”, do you mean that you’re copy-pasting a version of the project file into a separate location?

You can’t count on the auto-save files. So, how is the manual back up doing anything different? Seems like, if the project won’t open, then it just won’t open no matter which file it is… if we knew what was corrupting it, then that would help.

For me, it was LOOKS that corrupted my project. I was able to start a new project and import the broken one. Once that opened it was all funky, visuals were jacked. But I deleted all LOOKs fx, and that solved it.

You might be able to try starting a new project then importing your broken one… see what happens…

Well, I would do a “save as” and add backup to the file and save it in another folder. I haven’t had to test it with another crashed project…. you’re probably right though, if it project goes, if the auto saves go… then so would the backup too.
