  Canon EOS C-100: Retain timecode upon transfer

  Canon EOS C-100: How do you retain the camera timecode when using the Camera transfer utility? Each clip starts at zero. If the camera data is accessed directly in Premiere, the original timecode is retained but you can’t rename each clip prior to import.

  The only way I’ve found is to run the .mts file through ClipWrap, which retains the timecode and gives you the opportunity to rename to something else, but Premiere doesn’t always play nice with those files and they tend to stick a bit in the browser and seem to freeze intermittently. I was hoping CC would fix this and be able to keep TC with Data Transport Utility (since it’s obviously in there, as Clip Wrap sees it), but no go. I’m doing some soul searching to decide if timecode is really even that important anymore.

  Thanks for the response Cliff. I have ClipWrap and was also hoping it could have stayed in the Canon utility. The main reason to retain the timecode is that many times you have client sign-off on a shoot. You absolutely need an arbitrary number to assign to that sign-off. Sorry to say, camera to nle file management is still the 400 lb weakling in the room.
