  PC-Pro Res Issues with Premiere

  Hey guys,

  I have been having an issue with certain pro res files for a while now.
  I have quick time installed so I can use pro res files made in compressor without a hitch.

  But when I use a pro res file made from log and transfer inside final cut. Adobe cant play the file, and VlC will only play the audio.

  Does anyone know a way to fix this without having to run everything through compressor?

  Final Cut writes some files that will not just work on Windows machines without some codecs which aren’t free.

  VLC won’t play ProRes regardless if I recall correctly.

  What error does Premiere Pro give you? Missing codec?

  https://support.apple.com/downloads/Apple_ProRes_QuickTime_Decoder_1_0_for_Windows may be worth grabbing, maybe it’s a legacy compatibility issue.

  Some components are not added to the Windows version of QuickTime. Is the footage HDV or XDCAM?

  Its P2 footage. It was trans coded into pro res using the log and transfer function in FCP 7
