Wacom tablets and Premiere don’t mix???
Posted by Mike Damian on January 18, 2013 at 8:28 pmHello all,
I’ve been having an on going issue using my Wacom with premiere and wanted to see if anyone else is having the same issue or if anyone knows of a fix. The problem mainly happens when adjusting opacity or audio level with the ban adjustment on clips in the timeline. I’ll set it to were I want it and it’s almost as if it slips and goes to a different level. This same type of behavior also happens when moving and adjusting keyframes. I’ll put a key frame where I want it, let it go and it will slip to a different time! This is very frustrating because I use my Wacom pen religiously!!!I haven’t had any issue with these same type of procedures in FCPX or After Effects.
All you wacom heads let me know if you are seeing similar behaviors.

January 20, 2013 at 3:28 amI’m not familiar with this problem, but here’s a tutorial on how to set up your Wacom to work with Premiere – hope it helps with the problem:

January 20, 2013 at 5:53 pmNo, it’s a known issue that Adobe seems to be mum on fixing. The Wacom support team noted there was an in-Premiere behaviour change at some point causing keyframe and general jumping.
I made a video about it: https://vimeo.com/46319803
And there’s a big thread (and other little threads) about it: https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/3/925015
I submitted feedback to Adobe and Wacom many months ago. It’s a shame really; the pen (and keyboard) is mightier than the mouse (and keyboard).

January 21, 2013 at 7:52 pmDone it for this issue so many times I’m giving up (fed up). Wacom claimed to have contacted the Adobe team directly and got no resolution either so I would tell people to save their time since it doesn’t seem like a priority.
*can you tell I’m annoyed by it?!* 😉

January 21, 2013 at 8:01 pmIn fact, with all the evidence indicating a serious bug, why not just take the time to contact Wacom on behalf of your users? I can provide you with a direct Wacom support contact if you need. I can even provide a case number.
I know Adobe has watched my video (almost a year ago) on Vimeo and Wacom is sure it was Premiere Pro change since the tablets work fine on CS5 and earlier.
Even Walter Biscardi blogged about the issue: https://www.biscardicreative.com/blog/2012/12/workflow-update-imac-adobe-and-the-x-factor/
“Hey Adobe there’s a bug!”
“File a bug report”
“We did”
“File more bug reports”
“We did”

….. error – feedback loop. 😉—

January 21, 2013 at 11:11 pmIt’s a Premiere Pro issue the team certainly knows about. Since it hasn’t been fixed yet, it’s likely a really sticky problem. So sorry for the inconvenience it’s causing. I’ll be sure to advocate for a fix ASAP, as I know it’s important to a lot of editors.

January 24, 2013 at 9:22 pmWell for what it’s worth I submitted a bug request. Kevin I appreciate whatever you can do to push this issue. I believe way more people are affected by this problem than the internet shows. With Adobe taking a lot of old FCP users, I am surprised that they don’t think this is a bigger problem than it is. I’ve rarely gone into an edit studio where you won’t find at least one Wacom tablet.

January 25, 2013 at 3:29 pmWe have one at two out of three stations – and even contract editors who balk at first, quickly turn around.
Having a discreetly mapped interface makes using muscle memory for certain interface elements speed up workflow dramatically!

June 6, 2013 at 7:11 pmSo am I clear to assume that other than this issue with the keyframes and audio adjustments, that you guys like the Wacom Intus 5 for use with PR? I’m getting some issues with my hands and shoulder working on editing all day with a mouse, though I love the mouse precision. Thinking about adding the Wacom tablet mainly for editing points for now, and replacing the mouse for general editing tasks in Pr CS6.
I have a Shuttlepro I use religiously with Pr and love it’s movement on the timeline.
So is the recommendation to get a Wacom Tablet? If so, is the medium the right choice? The larger tablets seem more suited to graphic artists. (or is it Graphic Arthritises?).

February 9, 2015 at 9:46 pmSo here we are two years later and I don’t know how many versions after and this issue is still happening.
I’m experiencing it right now on CC 2014 (along with a ton of other problems).Do you have an ETA on when this will be fixed?
