  HDMI out – NOT want it to scale to fit monitor… want it to show actual pixels

  Hey everyone,

  I’ve just started editing with an external monitor directly out of the HDMI on my rMBP. I’ve got it so that it always scales to fit the monitor (which is 1920×1080). But I’m now working on a 1280×720 project and I don’t want the monitor to scale it up … I just want to see the 1280×720 pixels. Anyway to do this? I will be getting a BM or AJA output shortly.. but in the meantime any solutions?

  It’s usually a monitor setting like scale:off or 1:1 or real pixels. It will be set on the monitor if the HDMI sending 720 and your monitor is blowing it up (monitor setting will fix) or your HDMI is sending 1080 and you don’t have a choice until you get a proper output box.

  The monitor itself has to be able to display 1:1, there’s nothing you can do in the MBP.

  That’s one of the reasons why we run the Flanders Scientific monitors in our shop for video output. They can go 1:1 or scale up depending on our preferences and are easily switchable back and forth.
