PPro CS6 AVCHD Workflow
Hi all,
I am a longtime FCP editor that has recently moved to PPro CS6.For years my footage came to me at DVCProHD 1080p 24fps. I would edit in FCP at ProRes and export a Quicktime using my timeline settings which I would then use in Compressor (MPEG Streamclip, Handbrake…) to create all of my FLV, MPEG-2, MP4 files from. Maybe not the best workflow, but for the type of work I was doing, 2-5 min videos for the web, it was fast and efficient.
I’d like to work similarly with PPro, but many variables have changed. First, I’m using PPro on a slower Mac (2.4 GHz Core 2 duo w/ 4 GB Memory, I know, I need to upgrade), my footage is AVCHD from a AG100 and the videos are MUCH longer. 2-3 hours in some cases. The destination is also different, usually Blue-Ray DVD and Vimeo.
I’m also finding that the AVCHD format is not near as nice as DVCProHD. MTS files are kind of a pain to work with, but I have been using the camera native AVCHD 1080p 24p codec to edit with and just using the sequence presets to export my hi res master file.
My longwinded question is this: What do you think would be the best sequence presets to use to keep the quality up while not killing myself with render and export?
Thanks in advance,
Jay
