Anyone know how to cut and paste an illustrator file into psd and make it transparent?
Posted by Jennifer on May 9, 2006 at 12:58 amHelp help help.. im trying to move a 50% transparent black graphic from illustrator into psd. Everytime I do it pastes it at 100 percent transparency and its grey. What am I doing wrong?

It seems to work for me Edit-Copy, then in ps edit- paste- then as smart object… Of course that’s only if your using CS2… but it should work the same in any ver of ps…

May 9, 2006 at 1:17 amWell I believe that it is pasted gray but its at 50% transparency…Yes PS says 100%. Maybe it would be better for you to paste it as a path, then you can just change the ps opacity.

May 9, 2006 at 1:20 amGood suggestion, alas, I have many layers to move into psd and moving them as a group is the only way to go right now. Wish I had CS2!

May 9, 2006 at 7:22 pmI believe if you start in Photoshop and go File> open> navigate to your illustrator file and open it through photoshop it should preserve the transparency.

May 9, 2006 at 8:54 pmTry going to the Illustrator preference menu and into File handling and Clipboard, then in the Clipboard on quit uncheck AICB(no transparency support) and check PDF. This worked for me when I tried it
