  using screen mode in duplicate layer to fix underexposed footage

  Hi
  Can anyone tell me if using screen mode in duplicate layer (either in PPro or AE) is a preferred method to fix underexposed footage?
  My understanding is that this method won’t reveal more noise, which is what happens when you simply lighten the shadow areas using a levels or curves adjustment.

  Instead of duplicating an instance if a clip and having to group them for editing, transitions require workflow differences there an effect called “solid composite” that can apply this look and stay as a single clip. It is is PPro and AE.

  Are you sure you don’t mean the calculations effect?

  Calculations effect wad the old one. But yeah that would work too.

  Be aware that if you scale te clip the composite won’t adjust with it.

  You would need to nest it and scale the nest.
