New computer
I am just looking for a little help as I am buying a new computer. I will only be editing some hockey games about 10 times a year. I am wondering if a computer with these specs will work ok for me:

S/P DIF: 2 portI have a 1TB drive that I will add when I get it but I’m looking for some help so I know that a PC like this will work well for Adobe Creative Suite 5 Production Premium. Also I am just looking for some suggestions on whether or not I should upgrade certain features that would benefit the editing process.
This computer will basically only be used for editing so I don’t have to worry about rendering taking awhile it that is the case. It will just sit in my office so rendering time isn’t a huge factor for me.

I’d get at least 8gigs of memory, and I’d loose the 9800gt as its getting long in tooth, and get something with more cuda cores like a Fermi 470 which also has faster video ram(DDR5)

I am now going to build a custom computer from scratch. I am wondering a couple things before I choose my specs…
Will I see a big difference between the AMD Phenom II 3.2 GHz X6 and X4?
I would like to buy a 150GB 10000RPM Hard drive as my system drive and then 2 1TB hard drives set up with raid 0, will that be sufficient? Or will I not see a difference if I go without the 10K RPM drive?
I will be installed 8GB of ram (2 x 4GB) with the plan to add more if needed.
On the adobe site the say to use GeForce GTX 470 or the 285 but will the GTX 460 work? Or will I see a big difference using the 470 or 285?

The 10k drive will load the system and apps fast, once loaded into memory it doesn’t matter, also will speed up virtual memory but not by much, if there is enough ram it doesn’t matter too much.[Nick Leigh] “but will the GTX 460 work? Or will I see a big difference using the 470 or 285?”

just be sure you have good cooling, there are a few dual fan cards, I use the hack with a GTX260 and have compared it with a quadro 3800 and also a 465, and the only one that made a difference was the 465 and that was because of the DDR5 which the 460 has, read the article, also till they are using all the cores spending money on high end card for a editor that basically uses 100cores and the rest for the card mostly for display is iffy -
