  premiere and crappy renders

  I have a project in premiere and am now ready to export a quicktime file. I have high res assets, but when I export, and the media encoder comes up, I get really fuzzy low res crappy renders.

  What am I doing wrong? My settings are as follows:
  NTSC DV widescreen
  29.97 FPS
  Quality 100

  Here’s some images to demonstrate what I’m talking about. The first is taken when I’ve deleted all work area files:

  DV is very poor at maintaining color edges in reds, I wouldn’t trust the way it looks on Quicktime either. QT will always show DV files in a soft low quality. If you have QTPro you can manually change the setting (Ctl/Cmd+J) for video to highest, but then you need to save it like that to keep it just for that video.

  If your video is for web – export to H.264 at square pixel ratio.

  If your video is for DVD – export it to MPEG-2 DVD at Highest Preset Settings.

  Make sure that if you export progressive footage make custom progressive sequence (default Premiere sequences are interlaced) for your format specs and resolution.
  After that, export in animation, h264 or photojpeg format for best quicktime quality….
