I’m currently on the lookout for a computer to edit with. At first, I was looking at Macs, but for what I wanted (6g of ram and 600g of storage), it would cost around 4k. So, I’ve looked into some PCs, and found that I can get the same speed and storage for around 1k. But as they say when it seems too good to be true, what’s the catch? I’m shooting HD from a SDHC card, and I want to just click and drag onto my desktop. Will a Mac work better for this than a PC? What PC would you recommend? Thanks guys!

What format is the footage that you are wanting to edit? AVCHD, P2, ? Will you be editing short form videos, or long form production stuff using 3-4 cameras that will need to be multicam edited together?

I have both, and like both, but it ALL depends on what type of editing workflow you are going to be using.

Give us some more details about what you will be shooting and editing, be glad to give ya some input

Thanks Eric, the camera that I’m looking into converts the files to H264 format, so quicktimes. I’m starting out short form, four to five minutes at the max, and maybe I will expand into longer form down the road. As far as cameras, I’m set at one right now, but the most I’ll get is two. Thanks for the response.
