Matchframe Edit…
Hello,
I’m an Avid editor who is doing some work on Premiere CS4. I was wondering if there is a way to do what Avid refers to as a ‘matchframe edit’. Essentially it’s a button that quickly creates an edit point at a given location. Currently in Premiere, I have to activate the razor blade tool and zoom into the exact point in order to accomplish this. It’s awkward, because the razor blade tool doesn’t seem to snap to my playhead.
Also, is there a way to save transitions as favourites?

I don’t have Premiere open, but I seem to recall it’s “Ctrl+K” (for ‘Kut’?); it should split your selected tracks at the playhead point.

That doesn’t seem to work. You would think that there would be some way to do this within Premiere as it’s a pretty basic function.

Ctrl+K is definitely the cut shortcut key combo. I use it all the time (rarely use the razor blade tool, because you have to zoom in so far to make a precise cut).
Make sure your track is highlighted (click on the track’s name box), and you are working in the window with your time line/sequence or Premiere won’t know what you’re trying to cut.

You can actually change or create your own keyboard shortcuts in the preferences menu. I use the razor alot as weel, and changed the shortcut from “ctrl-k” to just the letter “x”.
Not sure how that would be called a matchframe edit in Avid though?
