  file name too long to be backed up

  I’m using adobe premiere CS3 on a Axio LE system and and having a problem backing up my projects.
  I back up my projects daily to external maxtor hard drives and usually have no problem except for the other day when I could not back up my preview files because the file name was too long. I’ve never seen this before and have backed up multiple projects this way to the same external hard drive. Since premiere determines the length and name of the preview files I cannot change them. I’m a little confused as to why this would not work in this case.

  I tried a separate external hard drive and received the same result.

  I would not be concerned with backing up preview files, they can be regenerated if ever needed.

  you are right, It’s not a huge problem if I can’t back them up. I’d still like to know what’s causing the problem though.

  Long path tool is the best solution for your problem. try it and solve your problem.
