  Timeline Overwritten in Black (CS4)

  When a browser window is open (Firefox 3 or IE 7), when the timeline is being played it gets completely covered in black as the red line moves (almost like it is being painted by the red line) All the clips behind the red line are covered and no longer visible.

  Closing the browser window removes the problem.

  The browser can be minimized or on another monitor and this still happens.

  I have tried lowering hardware acceleration to no effect.

  Windows XP Pro

  NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS / 6.14.11.7824 (newest driver)

  Any ideas?

  Start>Run
  Enter dxdiag and click OK

  Read all the pages for errors and run all the tests.

  Thanks, that looks useful.

  I actually just found the problem. I have ZoneAlarm ForceField, which is a browser plugin that guards against malicious web sites. When that is not running I have no problems.
