Hello, all. I’d appreciate your suggestions on a capture card. I’m running Pro 2 on a reasonably fast quad core machine. I’m shooting SD & HDV, editing with the Cineform codec, and don’t expect to go beyond that during the lifetime of the computer. I also need to capture off a Beta deck, and would prefer to do that in component, with machine control and time code. Output is back to SD, HDV tape (through the firewire) or DVD. Also want HD monitoring options (HDMI or component), and better audio than what I’m currently getting with the computer’s sound card. What would you suggest I look at?

    Thanks for the help.

Look at the BlackMagicDesign Intensity Pro, its reasonably priced and has analog capture, and both component HD and HDMI for monitoring.

Thanks. Are you using it yourself? I have an Intensity (not Pro) card in my machine now, but don’t use it much because it only works on an HD timeline. Apparently my Samsung monitor doesn’t support the HDMI mode the card spits out in SD.
