    Hi,

When i export a sequence as dvd from a hd project 1920 1080 (hduncompressed, not hdv) i always get an 16/9 letterboxed image regardless if i choose 4/3 or 16/9 aspect ratio in the mpeg2 settings.

what i need is an 16/9 anamorph output (stretched image).
Somebody else had that problem? or am i doing something wrong?

    Regards, Fr

You are likely NOT choosing 16:9, or 1.2 Pixel Aspect Ratio. But since we can’t see your settings, you are going to have to provide one heck of a lot more information in order for us to help you.

    Hi Steven,

here is the info you kindly asked – to help me.

    matrox axiohd, hp certified system.
matrox 1080p uncompressed 10 bit pal project

This is the first time i go from a hd timeline to dvd, did it numerous times in sd without any problem

I tried different settings in Matrox media encoder

fe: paldv 16/9 highquality 7 mb cbr 1 pass field order upper
pixel aspect ratio 4/3 and 16/9 give both the same mpeg letterboxed file!
also other settings i tried fe: pal progressive 16/9 high quality 7mb cbr 1 pass gave the same letterboxed mpeg for the 2 aspect ratios

so choosing the aspect ratio doesn’t change anything. i always get the letterboxed image…

one weird thing more, after your reply i wanted to output one more test, a straight export to dvd and weird is that when i go to my encoding settings my source is 720 576 instead of 1920 1080..and i only see that little part of my image…this stays even after a few reboots of the whole system..and i only have this with a straight export to dvd, not when i choose matrox media encoder…

i don’t say the problem isn’t related to my system – but feedback from other users that did this before would be welcome

    regards, Fr

    Steven,

i found the problem, you’ll always see that when you do something for the first time – in my case exporting to dvd from hd project – they cange something else also – the player to quality check our dvd is new and was wrongly setup, played everything letterboxed.

So everything works just fine now, thanks anyway,

    regards, Fr
