  • Quest for Neg spotting software – how does AE work with multibridge extreme

    Hi all,

not sure if you have seen my various threads throughout creative cow, but one of the key things I have been working on is finding a neg spotting solution for 10bit HD 444 footage.

I am using a multibridge extreme in my G5 and can play RT in FCP.

I read that the MB Extreme supports AE, so if I export a clip out of FCP in black magics codec, can I assume that it will play real time in AE?

if the above is true, then can someone recommend a good neg spotting plugin for AE? This is how I would like to work…

option A, find neg spot/scratch, select which source (most likely the same as that being neg spotted), and then which frame in that source (usually before or after, but if possible others as well), “mark/erase negspot”. – this is how it works in FLAME/SMOKE.

    option B is to clone

The most important thing is that I can paint per frame as oppose to key framing and that it works in 10bit plus.

I know of silhouette paint, but I am not 100% sure that you can select which frame you want to use as the source, you can only set a global offset…

would appreciate any advice to help me get rid of this headache…

In Silhouette you can specify any combination of clone sources – it can be a relative offset from the current frame or a fixed frame, and you can paint from the current clip or a different clip – even the painted or unpainted version.

But, as I mentioned in another thread, FCP has a bug that prevents 10 bit codecs from working in certain AE plugins.

thx Paul, looks like i have to give paint another go – under AE this time…

if only it didnt take you out of AE…but ATM looks like it’s the forerunner – just need to test and convince others to purchase…
