    Hello,
I am having a terrible time with controlling DV Devices with Adobe Premeire. I’m Using Ver 1.0, and operating on a single processor 2.8 Ghz and running the application with a 10,000 rpm hard drive. As far as I can tell I should have no problem capturing or playing back DV res material.

Once in a while the device will operate properly, but after a batch capture or switching tapes or anything it seems the camera will simply go offline and not work until what seems to be a random combination of restarts of the application, computer, or the camera. It is a Canon ZR20, which has always worked fine under the Canon “Standard” setting under DV Devices in the past.

Not only do I have dropped frames about every 3 minutes, but then the device is constantly going randomly offline. I tried switching Firewire cables, and it worked for about an hour and then stopped working again. I tried all of Adobe’s recommendations of alternateing DV Devices settings, Capture/playback settings, etc.

Does anyone have any thoughts or similar problems. This is costing me a lot of money with clients.

    Thanks in advance.
    Terry

That problem is usually due to fragmentaion on the disk, or issues with disk transfer speed. Your sytstem seems way ahead of minimum requirements though.

You could try downloading a program called Windv: https://windv.mourek.cz/.

That should take care of your dropped frames issues (Uses a memory buffer), and hopefully the random restarts as well.

    Cheers,

    Vince
