    Hello all
I have seen other people with this problem, but have yet to see an answear.I am working on a montage.
I am using Premiere Pro 1.5.1 and Matrox rtx100e. I am using all .tga files (720 x 480 from photoshop)and a couple of video clips captured from vhs.
    I have hotfix2 installed.
Everything was going along fine untill suddenly I get:
“Updating Timeline. Please wait….” I waited for hours.
I have turned off the PC, waited a few hours and turned it back on. When I try to do ANYTHING, I get the message again. I don’t get it..I have done many projects with this set up.
My first thought is it has something to do with Matrox (I have had problems with Matrox in the past). I looked in their forums, and though I did see similar problems, I saw no solution. I have searched the forums here with the same result. I have put many hours into this project and the client would like to know “how far along I am”. I am at the point of desperation. I can’t see starting this project over.
Can anyone PLEASE help?? – PLEASE!-
Thanks in advance for a quick response !
    Jeff

As a test you mnight also try starting a completely new project with the same settings, etc. Then importing your old project into this new one.

    Thanks Kovboy.
I still do not know why this happened. However, I opened the project, took out a .tga file, and saved the project with a different name. It now appears ok….at least til the next time.
I would very much like to know how to avoid this in the future tho.
    Thanks

Jeff – I am convinced this is a Matrox issue and I worked long and hard to get the answers to the “curse”. I never saw it again once I dumped the card from my NLE and I am totally happy with the performance and stability of PremPro 2 sans Matrox.

BTW: I was able to improve the Matrox stability with a large number of tweaks but never got 100%

I have done this , but now the project looks like one big .avi file. Therefore I can not change anything.

Thanks for the reply. My thought is that it is also Matrox. They have yet to help me with this problem. I would not recomend Matrox to anyone. Too bad I lost all that money buying thier product…perhaps a class action suit is in order…?

Dump the card is my suggestion and move your project into a Non Matrox PremPro 2 Project. (It will be worth the effort and you will sleep better).

It’s definitely the card. This was an issue even with Premiere Pro 1.0 and the Matrox card.
