  afx crashes on startup

  hello,
  i recently installed AE7 in trial mode, but once it begins to load at the splash screen, specifically on
  openGL, it just closes.
  anyone have this problem or a solution? i still have AE 6.5 installed and has worked fine since installed.

  Might be a font. This happened to me. Removing all my self-installed fonts removed the problem, then it was a simple process of elimination to find the wacky font. (On OSX, this kind of thing is a good argument for installing non-standard fonts only in your home/library/fonts directory.)

  (mentioned in an earlier post, somewhere down there … )

  i think it’s funky that i can open 6.5 just fine, and not 7.

  I had that happen, I had to update my display driver and the problem went away.

  Thank you for this answer. I installed AE7 (along with the rest of the Production Studio) last night and had this exact issue. I updated the drivers as suggested and the problem is went away imediately.
