Im very new to premiere pro, and have an hd question. So i downloaded a csi miami video, its an hd, and when i open it up in premiere pro it will not render or display and frames or audio. Its just flatline. BUT!!! when i make the preview dual view and i drag it across in the left preview window it will play just like it does in media player. Why can i not edit the video? Ive even tried to render it on the time line which takes like half a day for a one hour vid but still no results. $1000000 to whoever can help…lol

From Premiere’s menu bar; File: Get Properties for (and select that HD file).
Copy/paste that info in a reply here.

Your file is not HD, but a cut down SD file. The big problem is that the video compressor is Xvid and not supported by Premiere.
You may have luck using VirtualDub to make a dup using another codec.
Premiere Elements 2.0 is supposed to be able to open all codecs installed on your system.
