  Working with two monitors

  I just bought a laptop and also connected my old CRT to it. While editing video, is there any way to use both monitors and split the work among the two screens?

  Yes there is. Make sure that Premiere Pro is not maximized and drag one end of the program onto the other screen. Should work fine.

  Aanarav, are you sure this works with a laptop? Isn’t the VGA out a loop through, either or, or clone? Not necessarily a dual output?

  It really depends on the gfx chipset….

  most laptops I’ve worked with suport extended desktops….

  With the second monitor attached,

  go to the desktop, right click and choose properties…

  choose advancde options and see what’s available…

  Hi Anarav,

  I may miss the point. I did as you suggested, but both screens look exactly the same. The same desktop appears on both monitors.

  That’s because your defaul Desktop propoerites are set up for “mirroring”

  see above post and check to see if you can use an extended desktop…

  1. Right click on desktop
  2. Go to Settings tab
  3. You should see the “2nd” monitor in the monitor icon area
  4. Click on the 2nd monitor.
  5. Check the “Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor.” checkbox.

  If that checkbox is not available then your graphics card does not support or you may need to get a more recent driver. I’ve usedd this setup on my last two laptops and it worked great.
