I’m getting from a post house QT DV files of my clips. Since I have a PC, and they come as a name without extension (ie chase and not chase.mov). I tried 2 ways to have PPRO recognize them. One, I just added the extension. The other I saved them in QT as a self movie. The results are identical in size but which one is better? Is there a quality difference? Also, once done editing, I need to encode to DVD. Should I export to tape or to a dv movie? QT or Microsoft DV AVI? I only care about the best quality and the clip is only 4 minutes long. Also, once imported, PPRO wants to render. Is that for preview purpose only or it messes with the file’s quality?
    Thanks

As long as the resolution, frame rate and pixel aspect ratio of your QT video match your export settings, your quality will be fine. Rendering preview files is just that…preview files.

Thank you Mike. Once edited, is there a difference if I export to QT DV/DVCPRO or Microsoft DV AVI quality wise? I’m starting with QT DV files.
    Thanks

The quality should not degrade with editing.
