WMV Rendering Error
Whenever I try to render a comp as a WMV for proofing I get this error: AEGP Plugin Media IO Plugin: Unknown Error! MediaIO error; 0xc00d002e (5027 :: 12).
I am running 6.5.0.97 on a Xeon Dually 3.2 gHz, 4 GB DDR3 RAM, nVidia Quadro FX 500/600 card on XP Pro, managing 2.5 TB of local, disc arrayed and network storage. I recently upgraded my primary HDD’s and did I full software reload on a fresh OS. I don’t think my hardware is the issue. I am also using GridIron Nucleo although it is not used for WMV renders.
I was able to render WMV’s before my reload, but AE now returns that error on the first or second frame of the comp. I have tried my previous render template and about 100 different codec combinations.
Adobe offers no support on this error and I have search the web exhaustively for support without success.
I am able to render to every other format without issue. I use WMV’s to provide proofs for clients before their content goes to DVD and this problem is costing me dearly in productivity as I have to render to AVI then squish a WMV out of my AVID.
I am at my wits end to say the least. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I know this is a late response, but I’ve had this problem for some time. I found something that works for me and am trying to get this fix posted wherever I can. I found this info in a post on the Adobe forums – there is a “Secret Preferences” setting:
1) Hold the shift key
2) Edit/Preferences/General
3) Release the shift key
4) Previous
5) Secret! Voila!
I selected “disable Layer Cache” and set it to Purge Every 10 Frames and it not only took care of an “unspecified drawing error”, but I am now able to render wmv files with no problem.I wanted to let you know about this so you can tell others that have the same problem.

Bruddah! You da man, that fix cleared up my problem entirely! I had a short term fix, since I posted my problem, and that was to never use WMV’s or JPEGS in my comps. I would use other programs, PS CS2 and AVID Express Pro HD to convert my clients files to AVI’s and PNG’s then I had no problems (mostly).
I applied your fix and it has been rock solid ever since.

Glad to hear someone else is benefiting from this info as much as I am! I also emailed back the Adobe support case I’ve been working with for the last TWO WEEKS that I solved the problem & to pass along the info to others.
Good Luck! & post this fix anywhere you can – I would have killed for this info three weeks ago when I had to tell a client I couldn’t give them a wmv to imbed in a PowerPoint………..
