Spreadsheet -> AE
Hi!
I know about a couple of scripts that help with several tedious tasks. I am looking for something that could really cut down some tedious work:
To simplify-
I have a spreadsheet (Excel) with 50 rows (for 50 Comps)
Each row has a name column (Comp name)
and size column (all different resolutions)
Is there a script that I can execute and get an AE Project to help with creating those 50 Comps, each comp having the specific rez?
If anyone knows, any tip will very very much appreciated!

Hey Dave, thanks for the reply.
Sure making 50 comps is easy, but since it’s a pretty automatic task, and my situation might happen a couple times a week, not a one time project, where 50 can turn to 80 or even more… An automated way of starting a project, which is dealing with the content of these comps, will help tremendously. I thought asking here might be helpful.
This forum helped me numerous times with knowledgeable scripting suggestions or direction ☺Adam

Yes there is a script! I haven’t seen it for ten years, but its out there. Sorry to be of no help now, but maybe I can find it.

This sounded useful, so I wrote one:
12936_keenmakemanycomps.zip.zip
You will need a six-column Excel grid with header rows for Comp Name, Width, Height, pixel aspect ratio, time, and frame rate:
The script presents an area for input like this:
Paste your data from Excel into this area, like this:
Click the “Make many comps” button, and many comps will be made.

Walter, this is not the first time you reply to my quest with a tailor-made useful script. I am speachless. I am sure its useful many purposes and many people. i’m going to try it first thing tomorrow morning. Stay tuned ????. Thank you so so so much!

Walter Thanks again! It works like butter! (I needed to tweak the order of the columns a bit, but I think its due to RTL-LTR on my side, and btw, it works with other languages – for the comp names!)
