Multiple custom exports
I’ve got a project whereby I need to create more than 200 very slightly different versions of the same video in After Effects. They’re essentially personalized e-cards, so the only difference is an altered text layer at the beginning that introduces the video to each different person its being sent to.
If I have to, I’m going to need to work through this, manually changing the text layer each time then sending it to export… pretty boring and time consuming (and I hope needlessly so).
It so happens that I have all the names I need for this on an Excel spreadsheet. So, I wonder if there might be a way I can automate a batch render to create the requisite versions of my composition by somehow pulling the text information individually from each Excel cell and pasting it into the text layer each time. Then I’d be able to batch export the whole lot and spend the rest of the time with my feet up with a cup of coffee rather than getting a migrane and feeling the joy drain from my very being from the repetition!
I wonder whether there might be an script or function etc that could do the job? Any suggestions much appreciated!

I am familiar with CompFromSpreadSheets, but in my case since I need to share the project with users that wont be able to purchase this script and also consider I just need to rename the main Comps based on a spreadsheet. My understanding is that there is no way to do that within After Effects, since this operation has to be done trough an Extendscript. Do you think there’s a way may be to do it trough expressions?

Expressions can only affect the values of stopwatch-able properties. They can’t perform user/GUI actions like renaming items in the project panel.
