  • Scale a rounded rectangle in a non uniform way without edge deformation

Has anyone had success scaling a rounded rectangle? I am attempting to scale a rounded rectangle from a widescreen shape to a portrait phone screen shape (not a uniform scale) and whenever I scale the rectangle in this fashion my rounded edges become notably off and deformed. I have tried changing the roundness with the rectangle and also using a mask shape and transforming the path instead of the shape with the same results.

it depends on how the rounded rectangle was made.

If it is a rasterized layer (like a png) then you won’t be able to do it.

if it was made as a mask on a layer, then you won’t be able to use the scale property, but you could select point and move them manually.

if it was made as a shape layer, then you’ll want to use the size property (contents>rectangle #>rectangle path #> size) to change the width or height while maintaining the roundness of the corners.

To retain correct corner rounding, the rectangle shouldn’t be scaled, rather you should adjust the width and height parameters.

Thank you so much that was it! I never usually had problems scaling my shape layers until now, I forgot there was even another way to transform the shape that wouldn’t destroy the edges.
