Activity Forums Adobe After Effects QUESTION ANSWERED – not seeing DOF Camera Blur when using C4D 3D renderer in AE

  • QUESTION ANSWERED – not seeing DOF Camera Blur when using C4D 3D renderer in AE

    Posted by Dirk De jong on February 6, 2018 at 10:28 pm

    I haven’t used the C4D 3D renderer option in AE much so I may well be missing something that might be obvious to others, but although I am viewing Final Quality and the active camera is set up to be showing some DOF blur I am not seeing any blur… and turning DOF off and on seems to have no effect on the appearance… The objects are some extruded text and an extruded shape. If I switch to Classic 3D renderer the DOF blur appears as expected (and the text and shape flatten as expected)… Any suggestions about what might be going on are appreciated – thanks.

    Edit/Update ;
    I now see that Camera Depth of Field is one of the things in the “Disabled” list when choosing that renderer… I had previously noticed that when switching between renderers that fewer DOF parameters appeared on the camera layer when choosing the C4D renderer… but I would have thought all of those parameters would disappear if that feature is truly disabled in that context…

    anyway – question answered
