  • GoPro 4k60fps Footage Won’t Load

Posted by Daniel Johnson on July 24, 2020 at 9:37 am

I am using Vegas Pro 13.0, but when I try to import footage from my GoPro Hero 7 Black, filmed at 4k60fps, I’m told

“Warning: An error occurred while opening one or more files.

The file is most likely corrupted or of an unknown format.”

I tried converting my videos with Handbrake, but unfortunately haven’t been able to do so without quality loss (and a lot of processing time). Does anyone know how to resolve this? Has this been resolved with later versions of Sony Vegas?

    Hi Daniel

Your version of Vegas Pro, V13, can’t natively open H265 files. Support for H265 started with V14.

Quick and short history on the H265. This type of file was originally meant for broadcasting purposes and is also used in Blue-Ray. If at all possible, try to use another file type that will be recognized and won’t make your CPU huff and puff.

    Cheers !

Thank you very much! I suppose I’ll have to upgrade then – probably about time. I’m glad to hear that it works with later versions at least, that’s good news.
