  • Render settings for a 4K video

Hi there, I’ve filmed some 4K video using a Sony a6500
I’ve edited some clips and added minimal brightness/contrast, nothing fancy.

I’d like to render it at the best quality I can with Vegas. I’ll attach a screen shot of the settings right now, but I’m sure I can choose a better format to render to. Not an expert.
Can anyone suggest a better format? M2t or something?

    Thanks!

It may be helpful to show the specs of the original footage from the camera. Screenshot below. Thanks!

Hi Jono, I’m sure the mp4 format is fine, all things being equal the higher the data rate then the higher the output quality. If your source is ~ 100 Mbps and you choose to render at about 1/4 of that data rate then your giving up quite a bit. It depends on what you’re use case is.

Thanks, ya, I don’t really get that stuff…:)
I want to output it the best I can.
Would you suggest changing the render settings under variable bit rate?
What would be the best setting given the specs of the original video?

    Should I just enter:
    max: 100,000,000
    min: 50,000,000

    Thanks again!

Sorry for taking so long to get back, yes thats probably a good setting, but it all depends on what its destined for, private use, on say PC , head more towards the source data rate, for other uses just reduce, do an eyeball test in say any low light, high movement sections and make sure its ok.
