So go check out AJA’s new website.

    https://www.aja.com

They’ve come out with some great new products. While I’ll be picking up a couple of the new Kona LHi cards, I’m really excited to see how the new Ki Pro is going to change the industry. For the first time, you can actually upgrade your camera’s codec to ProRes! 10-bit, full-raster, visually lossless, edit-friendly!

This is quite the achievement and opens up new possibilities regardless of which camera your using. This can change your workflow if you’re using something as small as a Canon HV30 or as large as a Arri D-21 or RED ONE. Check it out and let’s start hearing what you think!

    Hi Russell,
It looks really awesome but at first sight a bit too big.
Is not a high quality solution for ENG like shooting.
I expect to get soon the Convergent-Design Nano Flash.
It doen’t record PrpRess (just MPEG-2 Intraframe 160Mbps) but is not bigger than a cigarets box and record in Compact flash cards.
is a pity that for the next generation “Ki Pro’ probably I will be too old.
    Best,
    rafael

I did not see in the article when the Kona LHi will be available. I am about a week or two away from upgrading my editing system and might wait for this product if it will be out soon. Did I miss the general idea of when this will be out?

    Russell,
Are you at NAB? If so, ask AJA how much that box costs and when it will be available.

    Thanks,
    Dan

Did I mention that the Ki Pro records 10-bit to ProRes? 🙂 That means that you don’t have to convert the footage to anything else. It also up, down, cross converts to anything you need. It also has full XLR inputs and outputs.

Also, you can use an iPhone to configure it, hit record, and even name the clips! So you don’t need more people hovering around the camera.

You are right though, it is bigger than the other box you were talking about.

It looks like the LHi does everything the kona-3 does except 2k Red output.

    is that right?

This is the coolest thing I have ever seen in a long time…!!!

AJA is going to have yet another big hit on their hands. Yes, the box is bigger but it has so many more features than the others on the market.

NOW…. If we could just get a stand alone hard drive to dump all of that SxS card media. You know, kinda like the P2Store. If that were to happen, you would see a huge market transition to this media.

    Thanks Russell,

It seems like this can do everything the IO HD can do? Is that correct?
