Not quite as many audio options. Other than that, basically the same with the addition of HDMI I/O

April 20, 2009 at 11:27 pmLooks like AES/EBU is one of the K3 audio interfaces…no analog.
I always use SDI-Embedded so its not a big deal for me.
What I’ve always wanted was the up/down/cross conversion of the kona-3
on my LH-e (only down)looks like I was wise to wait it out. 🙂
my multibridge shall be replaced with an LH-i

April 21, 2009 at 2:00 amIn a way, but it doesn’t act as a video interface for a computer like the IOHD does. It is a very cool little box and will be all over, especially once more features are added in future updates.

April 21, 2009 at 2:03 amKona 3 – dual-link and 2k support
Kona LHi – LTC timecode in and out, HDMI in and Out, analog video/audio in and out
If you need 2k or 4:4:4, then the Kona 3 is the way to go. If not Kona LHi rocks.

April 27, 2009 at 2:37 pmKiPro is going to be HUGE! While the price tag may be high for some, if you can get it in your budget, the return on investment will be well worth it. You are going to save so much time – and time is MONEY!
We’ve been selling the FireStores for years, and customers like them, but one of the biggest complaints / requests we’ve been getting over the past year is why don’t they have a more professional unit that goes straight into ProRes or Avid DNxHD.
With the KiPro you get full ProRes in all it’s HD glory. While the unit isn’t small, Aja ws showing all kinds of different mounting solutions for it at NAB, and now that the world has seen it, I expect to see some clever folks come out with additional mounting solutions specifically for KiPro.

I’ll just add that for the first time, people can upgrade their HD camera without having to buy a new one. This is going to add new life to a lot of those “aging” HD cameras.

May 23, 2009 at 12:16 pmHello,
Is it possible to start editing while the recording is still running? We are looking for a HD solution to start editing while a sports game is still recording. We would send a cameraman + editor in the field to edit a summary of the game and have it on air a 10 minutes after the game ends. We prefer FCP.
Greetz,
Wim
