I am having a weird issue with the Io and Final Cut 5.02.

Last week a client dropped off some footage on svhs. It has been a while since I have dne anything with that, but I was able to capture it w/o any issues.

Today I attemted to capture some more fotage from the same tapes, but when I opened the Log and Capture window, my broadcast monitor went pink, and I could not get a video signal from the VTR.

If I close fcp and launch the Io control panel, it indicates the Io is in component RGB instead of SMPTE/EBU N10.

Switching the settings back to SMPTE corrects the isuue, and I can then view the video footage correctly until I attempt to do so in fcp.

The moment I open the capture window, the Io goes into RGB mode.

I have reinstalled the latest Io drivers and have double checked the firmware – everything is up to date.

I have power cycled everything several times, but nothing solves the problem.

Nothing on my system has changed. Between the time I last captured svhs src, I have been working with DVCPRO src.

And again, I must stress that svhs capture was working last week!

I have tested the cables and switches and everything wrks fine, I have swappe s-vid cables but not joy.

I have also attemtped to try the same test with my Hi8 vtr, but with the same results. The same happens w/composite input on the Io.

As usual, I am up against a deadline and this problem is really causing me grief.

    Anyone have any ideas??

    TIA,

    -k

the IO control panel does not change the setting inside FCP’s Audio/Video settings. IO Control Panel is a stand alone application. Simply go into the Audio/Video settings, go to Capture Presets, and select the correct selection.
If you don’t see a selection that you like, simply double click on one of the selections in Capture Presets, and you will see the input selector, which lets you choose countless settings.

If this is all too much of a pain for you, simply go to EASY SETUPS in FCP, and choose a setting. Don’t do it in IO Control Panel.

    Thanks for the reply.

I am not trying to change the settings in fcp via the ProIO control panel.

What I wrote was that when I open the capture window in fcp, the Io switches to rgb mode (as verified by the ProIO control panel).

I use custom settings within fcp for Io capture, but even the standard 10-bit and 8-bit easy setups are exhibiting the same problem.
