  Kona project on non-Kona G5

  Question, if I connect a media drive filled with Kona 8 bit footage to a seperate G5 with FCP 5.1 (without Kona) will I be able to edit that footage?

  I will be authoring a DVD (DVD Studio Pro) with this footage and might need to run FCP also.

  Yes, the Kona is using Apple’s 8bit uncompressed codec.

  I’m doing this right now on a 1 hour documentary. The editor out of state sent the project file, video, audio, graphics etc. on Firewire drives. I did have to reconnect most of the media as it pointed to his raid which is named differently then mine. I was able to open up his Kona base project just fine. The render files were not there, so I had to re-render all the layers of audio, but it played back fine right after the full render.
