this is how my week ended (2 minutes ago)
I should pay a therapy charge, so that I can complain here.
After having a good day (installing an AVID ISIS) a client of mine called, who was very angry.
Two folders on their shared disk drive volume have “disappeared”. I said “do you have a beeping noise, or a folder that popped up, indicating a bad drive” – NO. I remote in, the RAID is in perfect condition.“SO HOW CAN I GET THOSE FOLDERS BACK”. I told him that there is nothing wrong with his system, and that he should be BACKING UP his files on his RAID. I told him that at the very least, it is very inexpensive to purchase a USB “toaster” and some cheap SATA drives to simply backup his critical files, in case of problems like this. To which he replied angrily “I don’t understand – I spent a lot of money for this RAID protected drive array – why should I have to spend even more to backup these files !!!!”.
Ya know, you just can’t win sometimes.
