  • Why Does AE keep going Mosaic everytime I move the bezier?

    Hi CC,

Off and on AE CS6 keep going mosaic everytime I drag the bezier, sometimes but not always. Why does it keep doing that? It’s driving me nuts.

Picture attached. Thanks for any info as to why it’s doing this.

I believe you have adaptive resolution turned on. Below your comp window, the 2nd box past views, if you open it up it’s probably set to adaptive, turn it to off and AE should stop that behavior.

I generally only use adaptive when I’m really pushing the GPU or CPU.

If you’re doing roto work and don’t want the adaptive resolution to kick in you could turn off “Live Update” instead of turning adaptive resolution off. The difference would be that the comp won’t re-render (or update) until you let go of your mouse. Might be easier to make fine adjustments to your mask path without waiting for the full quality preview to render.

Note that this switch is one of the major “gotchas” in AE in that if you accidentally turn it on or forget that you turned it on it can be a pain to remember to turn it off 🙂

Check it out in the Help.
